This inquiry has recommended strengthening pathways for students to in-demand industries. 

It received 141 written submissions and held seven days of public hearings, including at Warrnambool and Geelong.

A youth rountable was also held, where 10 Victorian students shared their lived experiences with the Committee.

Terms of reference

The terms of reference are instructions which explain what a committee has been asked to do, what topics it should focus on, and how its members will work together to achieve its shared goals.

On 20 May 2025, the Legislative Assembly agreed to the following motion:

That this House refers an inquiry into how students can be better supported with advice and pathways for jobs in in-demand industries, including through TAFE and other vocational routes to the Economy and Infrastructure Standing Committee for consideration and report no later than 30 September 2026.
