 David DAVIS (Southern Metropolitan) (13:01): (2582) My constituency question today comes from material I have received from David Aquilina in Highett in my electorate, and it relates to the impact on his local architecture practice, of which he is the director. He is a registered architect. He is worried about the new regulations in 2026 and the impact on his local practice. He is worried about the transition times and the uncertainty about compliance, increased administrative burden for low-risk advisory services, potential liability implications for mandated contract provisions and the overall regulatory load on small businesses. He asks that the Minister for Planning look at the disallowance of the Architects Regulations 2026 as they currently stand. A risk-proportionate review would be a sensible way forward, and he seeks genuine consultation. These have been imposed without the proper discussion, and given housing affordability, our architects have an important role.
