 Evan MULHOLLAND (Northern Metropolitan) (14:35): I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Peter Katsambanis, a friend and former member of this place. Peter was a warrior of the Liberal Party who dedicated much of his life to public service and to his own beloved Greek community. He leaves behind an incredible political legacy defined by his rare distinction of serving in three different chambers across two different states. From his early days representing the Monash province here in the Legislative Council to his continued service in Western Australia across both the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly, Peter was a tireless advocate for his community and a champion of liberty and freedom. It is fitting that his last post on Facebook was sharing a video by Jess Wilson. He loved this state. He was determined to see a change of government in November, and we are determined to make that happen for him. He was a great mentor of mine and always so generous with advice. Peter’s standard greeting was always to call you ‘legend’, ‘champion’, ‘patriot’, ‘winner’ or ‘solid citizen’. A standard ‘How are you?’ was not in Peter’s vocabulary. It was always ‘Are you winning?’ His positivity was contagious, and he will be missed dearly by many. The outpouring of grief from those who loved him has been a fitting tribute. My deepest prayers and condolences are with his wife Karalee; his beautiful children, including my good mate Ross as well as Andrew, Angelica, Zoe and Nikkie; and his friends and former colleagues during this difficult time.
